\nWe are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for our reputable client on a permanent basis.
\nRole: Mechanical Design Engineer
\nLocation: Chippenham, Wiltshire
\nSalary: £38000 - £40000 (Pro Rata)
\nDays/Hours: 3 day week, 24 hour week.
\nAbout our Client hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer:
\nOur client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to support new and existing valve projects. This permanent opportunity will involve producing engineering drawings, Bills of Materials and Installation, Operating and Maintenance manuals to agreed quality standards and timescales.
\nKey Responsibilities as a Mechanical Design Engineer:
\nProvide 3D design concepts and planning drawings to meet sales briefs
\nProduce designs and drawings to BS8888 standards
\nCreate Installation, Operating and Maintenance manuals to meet customer and production requirements
\nModify designs and drawings as required to support continual improvement and DFM changes
\nIssue and control drawings in line with company procedures
\nMaintain filing systems and general drawing office housekeeping
\nTransfer legacy drawings into the updated CAD PDM system
\nControl parts identification and compile BOMs using the company’s supply chain management system
\nCheck own work for accuracy and completeness
\nSupport specification and testing of electrical items fitted to valves and third-party products
\nUnderstand ATEX implications on valve designs and drawings
\nProvide design support across manufacturing, including machine shop, assembly, purchasing, inspection, stores and dispatch
\nAssist the Technical Manager during R&D projects
\nProvide design support for Sales and Marketing when required
\nMaintain acceptable levels of departmental tidiness and organisation
\nWork in line with company Health and Safety requirements
\nRequirements for the Mechanical Design Engineer role:
\nMechanical Design Engineering experience is essential
\nKnowledge of rotating mechanisms would be advantageous
\nSelf-motivated and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision
\nCompetent with 3D CAD systems such as Autodesk Inventor or similar
\nGood IT awareness
\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
\nAble to manage own workload and meet targets and objectives
\nWilling to improve own performance wherever possible
\nUnderstanding of basic electrical concepts
