Interim Accountant (Charity)

Salford | Immediate Start | 6-Month Contract

£20-24 per hour

Looking to make a meaningful impact in the charity sector and hit the ground running immediately?

We’re working with a well-respected organisation based in Salford who need an experienced Accountant to join them on a temporary 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role at the heart of the finance function, supporting key decision-making and ensuring financial stability during a critical period.

Location: Salford (office-based) Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm Start: ASAP (immediate availability essential)

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll take ownership of core finance activities, including:

• Producing monthly management accounts, forecasts & cash flow reporting
\n
• Supporting budget planning alongside senior stakeholders
\n
• Preparing annual accounts and liaising with auditors
\n
• Ensuring robust financial controls, system integrity & record-keeping
\n
• Overseeing bank reconciliations, payments and cash flow management
\n
• Supporting procurement activities and financial governance
\n
• Attending and contributing to key committees and meetings
\n

What we’re looking for:

\n
• Qualified accountant OR qualified by experience (QBE)
\n
• Strong background in a finance function (charity preferred)
\n
• Experience with management accounts, budgeting & audits
\n
• Confident managing financial systems and banking arrangements
\n
• Highly organised, methodical, and accurate
\n
• Able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
\n

Desirable:

\n
• Experience in the charity sector
\n
• Familiarity with Sage or similar accounting systems
\n
