\nLocation: Any Markerstudy office including (but not limited to) Portsmouth, Manchester, Peterborough, Sunderland - Hybrid
\nThe opportunity
\nWe’re looking for a motivated and detail-focused Assistant Management Accountant to join our Group Finance team.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone who is part-qualified or actively studying towards an accounting qualification and wants to develop their experience within a large, complex organisation.
\nYou’ll support the month-end close and financial reporting processes across the Markerstudy group of companies, working closely with colleagues across Finance to ensure accurate, timely and well-controlled reporting.
\nAlongside your core accounting responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to process improvement initiatives, strengthen financial controls and help standardise ways of working across the Group.
\nWhat you’ll be doing
\nYour responsibilities will include:
\n- \n
- Posting accurate and complete journals to the general ledger \n
- Completing balance sheet and bank account reconciliations \n
- Supporting the production of accurate and timely financial reporting \n
- Assisting with the preparation of regulatory returns \n
- Reviewing and raising payments through online banking systems \n
- Supporting improvements to financial controls and governance \n
- Producing financial information to support HMRC annual tax returns \n
- Preparing regular insurer and office bank account reconciliations \n
- Responding to queries from internal teams \n
- Producing year-end information for external auditors \n
- Supporting the resolution of audit queries \n
- Contributing to projects designed to reduce the month-end cycle and standardise processes \n
- Supporting the wider Finance team with additional duties as required \n
What we’re looking for
\nYou’ll be someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in accuracy and is comfortable balancing multiple deadlines.
\nYou’ll also bring:

- Experience supporting month-end, financial reporting or management accounting processes \n
- A methodical approach and strong attention to detail \n
- The ability to prioritise conflicting requirements and meet deadlines \n
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across the business \n
- Strong Excel skills \n
- The ability to interpret complex financial data and present clear, straightforward analysis \n
- A continuous improvement mindset \n
- Confidence working through change, ambiguity and evolving priorities \n
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team \n
- Part-qualified status or active study towards AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA \n
