The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Large CNC Turner to join their busy subcontract machining workshop. You will be working on small batch, high-precision components for prestigious industries including oil & gas, aerospace, and defence.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist who thrives in a high-spec, precision engineering environment and enjoys working with large components.

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Programme, set, and operate CNC lathes (3-axis)
  • \n
  • Read, edit, and optimise CNC programmes
  • \n
  • Work from technical drawings, ensuring accurate interpretation of GD&T
  • \n
  • Follow setup sheets and processes with precision
  • \n
  • Ensure all components meet strict quality standards
  • \n
  • Adhere to health & safety procedures at all times
  • \n
  • Complete work in line with job cards, stage drawings, and customer specifications
  • \n
  • Work both independently and as part of a team
  • \n
  • Undertake additional duties in line with your skills when required
  • \n

About You

\n

Essential Experience

\n
    \n
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with large components in precision manufacturing
  • \n
  • At least 5 years’ experience operating Mazak and/or Fanuc controls
  • \n
  • Proven ability to set, programme, and operate CNC machines
  • \n
  • Strong experience working from engineering drawings / job cards
  • \n
  • Broad manufacturing knowledge across various materials and applications
  • \n
  • Understanding of handling and protecting machined components
  • \n
\n

Desirable Skills

\n
    \n
  • Programming experience on Mazak and/or Fanuc controls
  • \n
  • Knowledge of modern tooling and machining techniques
  • \n
  • Experience using hydraulic and manual steadies
  • \n
\n

Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering
  • \n
\n

Technical Skills

\n
    \n
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensions & tolerances (GD&T)
  • \n
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • \n
\n
