\n\nRole
\n\nIt’s an exciting time to be joining their Platform team as they’ve completed their migration from their data centre to Google Cloud Platform and are now embracing cloud-native infrastructure, leveraging GCP’s services to build a more scalable, resilient, and efficient platform. They’re looking for a passionate Platform Engineer to help them optimise their system, improve security, and develop solutions that utilise many of the benefits cloud engineering offers.
\n\nResponsibilities
\n\n?Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of their platform and infrastructure.
\nDesign and maintain scalable, cloud-native infrastructure and platform tooling on GCP.
\nContinue to automate and improve their infrastructure and operational workflows.
\nCollaborate with their core development team to design and deliver platform solutions that support product development.
\nBuild and maintain self-service platform capabilities that enable teams to deploy and operate their services.
\nHelp maintain high engineering standards through best practices, tooling, and documentation.
\n*Participate in a paid on-call rotation to support the reliability and availability of their platform (the rota is 1 week on 1 week off. It's possible to swap days or just ask another other person to cover it. The call outs are random. Can be as little as 0 a month to a few a month).
\n\nRelevant experience in a majority of these concepts
\n\nContainerisation – (Docker & Kubernetes).
\nIn-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, focusing on Debian and RHEL/CentOS.
\nCloud service providers such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS (knowledge of other platforms such as Azure would also be beneficial).
\nInfrastructure as Code best practises (Terraform).
\nConfiguration Management – (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Packer).
\nKnowledge of CI/CD processes – (Jenkins, GitHub Actions and FluxCD in particular).
\nScripting/programming languages e.g. Python, Bash, Perl or Golang).
\nDatabases (primarily MySQL).
\nSome experience of CDNs would also be beneficial (particularly Fastly).
\nPhysical infrastructure exposure, e.g. physical & wireless networking, security
\nEmail infrastructure and SMTP services (e.g. Postfix), including mail delivery, routing, and troubleshooting.
