About the Business
\nJoin a well-respected manufacturing company based in Worcester, off junction 7 of the M5. As the Financial Controller you’ll act as the finance leader for the Worcester site, combining full financial control responsibilities with hands-on plant accounting. The role is a key member of the site leadership team and a true business partner to operations, providing insight, challenge and control to drive site performance.
\nMain Duties:
\nAs a Financial Controller, your main duties include:

- Leading, developing and mentoring the site finance team \n
- Full ownership of the site P&L, balance sheet and cash flow \n
- Management of the finance team and help develop that function \n
- Be a key part of the senior leadership team for the site, supporting directors \n
- Preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary against budget and forecast \n
- Delivery of group reporting \n
- Leading the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasts \n
- Balance sheet integrity, including monthly reconciliations and review \n
- Management of the year-end audit process and liaison with external auditors \n
- Maintaining and strengthening the internal control environment \n
- Cash management, working capital optimisation and capital expenditure appraisal and control \n
- Standard costing: setting, maintaining and reviewing standard costs, labour and overhead recovery rates. \n
- Analysis of manufacturing variances (material usage, labour efficiency, overhead absorption, purchase price variance) with clear actions for operations \n
- Inventory accounting and control, including cycle counting, stock provisions, WIP valuation and physical inventory oversight \n
- Product costing and margin analysis to support pricing, quoting and make/buy decisions \n
- Business partnering with the Site General Manager, Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain to drive cost reduction and productivity improvement \n
- Financial evaluation of capital investment proposals and tracking of returns \n
- Development of site KPIs and performance dashboards linking operational metrics to financial outcomes \n
- Acting as a key finance contact, supporting alignment of policies, reporting, and systems \n
- Driving continuous improvement in finance processes, systems and use of ERP \n
- Providing financial input to the site leadership team on strategy, risk and opportunity \n

\nWhat We Are Looking For
\nThe ideal candidate will have
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Fully qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or CIMA \n
- Proven financial controller or plant/site controller experience within a manufacturing environment \n
- Strong technical grounding in standard costing, inventory accounting and manufacturing variance analysis \n
- Experience producing full monthly management accounts and leading budgeting/forecasting cycles \n
- Hands-on ERP experience and strong Excel/analytical skills \n
- A confident business partner able to challenge and influence operational stakeholders \n
- High integrity with a strong controls mindset \n

- Experience of business integration, acquisition or finance transformation projects \n
- People management experience with a track record of developing finance teams \n
- Hands-on, pragmatic and comfortable operating from shop floor to boardroom \n
