Private Client Tax Assistant Manager Cambridge £45,000 - £55,000
\nAn established, top 10 accountancy practice is seeking a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager to join its Cambridge office. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and technically focused environment. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of private clients, review personal tax compliance work, provide advice on complex tax matters, support the development of junior team members, and build strong client relationships while ensuring a high standard of service delivery.
\nRole Responsibilities

- Manage a portfolio of private client tax compliance work, ensuring assignments are delivered on time and to a high standard. \n
- Review personal tax returns prepared by junior team members. \n
- Prepare technical advice on complex private client tax matters for review by senior colleagues. \n
- Identify tax planning opportunities for existing clients. \n
- Attend pre-year-end and completion meetings with private tax clients where required. \n
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide regular updates on the progress of assignments. \n
- Monitor work in progress (WIP) and prepare draft fee proposals for approval. \n
- Identify changes in the scope of client work and propose appropriate additional fees where necessary. \n
- Support and mentor junior colleagues through training, feedback and performance reviews. \n
- Assist with recruitment activities, including interviews for junior hires. \n
- Deliver technical training appropriate to the experience level of trainees. \n
- Review final tax packs and transmittal letters before they are issued to clients. \n
- Contribute to business development initiatives, networking events and corporate social responsibility activities. \n
- Ensure all work complies with UK tax legislation and professional standards. \n
Personal Requirements

- CTA qualified, or qualified by experience with a relevant tax or accountancy qualification such as ATT, ACA, ACCA or CA. \n
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice in a private client tax role. \n
- Strong technical knowledge of UK private client tax. \n
- Experience reviewing tax returns and managing a client portfolio. \n
- Confident communicating with clients and building long-term relationships. \n
- Experience supervising, mentoring or line managing junior team members. \n
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines. \n
- Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities to add value for clients. \n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. \n
