\nLocation: Huddersfield (HD3)Salary: £50,000 per annumHours: 06:00–14:00, Monday to Friday
The Role \nWe are seeking an experienced Transport and Warehouse Manager to take responsibility for the warehouse operations and transport fleet. This is a key leadership role, overseeing the safe, efficient and legally compliant movement of goods while ensuring effective stock control, warehouse operations and customer service across multiple sites.

\nOverview
\nA well-established and highly respected manufacturing company based in Huddersfield, is seeking an experienced Transport and Warehouse Manager. The business has a number of customers from large plc to small family businesses.
\nOur client runs its own fleet of HGV and LGV as well as a number of vans.
\nThe successful candidate will be expected to manage and lead a team of well-established individuals within a busy working environment.
\nPurpose of the role
\nThe Warehouse & Transport Manager holds overall responsibility for the safe, organised and legally compliant running of the warehouse function and the company's transport fleet.
\n\nKey responsibilities
\nTransport and fleet compliance
\n- \n
- Hold operational responsibility for the company's fleet of tractor units and trailers, ensuring full compliance with all legal obligations of running an HGV fleet under the operator's licence. \n
- Ensure vehicles are inspected, serviced and maintained on schedule, with accurate and complete service and maintenance records. \n
- Ensure tachograph cards (vehicle and driver) are downloaded, stored and analysed within the required timescales, and that drivers' hours rules are observed. \n
- Ensure fork-lift trucks (FLTs) and all materials-handling equipment are compliant, inspected and maintained (LOLER/PUWER). \n
- Ensure all drivers' and operators' training, licences, qualifications (including CPC) and certifications are current, with training records kept up to date. \n
- Plan and schedule vehicle movements, routes and staff shifts efficiently. \n
Warehouse and stock
\n- \n
- Ensure the warehouse and holding sites are well organised, clean and operating efficiently across all locations. \n
- Ensure stock is correctly and promptly booked in from the factory and from suppliers of factored products, and that storage is accurate and accessible. \n
- Maintain stock integrity and accurate records, working with the relevant departments who place the orders. \n
- Oversee goods-in (raw materials and factored products) and goods-out (customer despatch). \n
People
\n- \n
- Lead, manage and develop the warehouse and transport team, including the two administrators. \n
- Manage absence, performance, training and development in line with company policy. \n
- Carry out and maintain risk assessments and safe systems of work, promoting a strong health and safety culture. \n
Communication
\n- \n
- Maintain strong, professional communication with customers on goods-out matters, supporting delivery performance and customer satisfaction. \n
- Maintain strong communication with suppliers on goods-in, covering both raw materials and factored products. \n
- Work closely with internal departments (purchasing, production, sales) to align stock and despatch with demand. \n
Person specification
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) – National (Road Haulage). \n
- Proven experience managing transport/fleet operations within a manufacturing, distribution or logistics environment. \n
- Sound, current knowledge of HGV operator-licensing obligations, drivers' hours, tachograph and vehicle maintenance requirements. \n
- Experience of warehouse and stock management. \n
- Strong people-management skills and the ability to lead a team. \n
- Good IT skills and confident communicator, written and verbal. \n
Desirable
\n- \n
- FLT licence and/or FLT instructor/examiner qualification. \n
- IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification. \n
- Experience of factored/bought-in product handling alongside own manufacture. \n
