HGV Waste Collection Driver

Class 2 Waste & Cleansing Driver – Nottingham City Council

Location: Nottingham, NG2

Contract: 3 months+

Hours: 37 hours per week (2pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday)

Pay: £20.21 per hour (Umbrella) / equivalent to approx. £15.58 per hour (PAYE)

About the Role

We are recruiting experienced Class 2 Waste & Cleansing Drivers to join Nottingham City Council’s frontline waste services team. This role involves operating Class 2 vehicles, supporting a small crew, and ensuring safe and efficient waste collection across the city.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive and operate Class 2 waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently
\n
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and defect reporting
\n
• Lead and support a small crew on daily routes
\n
• Record service delivery information using in-cab systems
\n
• Engage professionally with members of the public
\n
• Work in all weather conditions, including early mornings and occasional weekends
\n

Essential Requirements

\n
• Valid Category C (HGV Class 2) licence
\n
• Driver CPC Qualification Card
\n
• Experience completing vehicle safety checks
\n
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety and road safety
\n
• Ability to lead a crew and manage route performance
\n
• Competent using in-cab systems and reporting tools
\n
• Good communication skills with colleagues and the public
\n
• Physically fit and flexible with working hours
\n

PPE Requirements

Candidates must attend with the following orange hi-vis PPE:

• Hi-vis trousers
\n
• Hi-vis t-shirt
\n
• Hi-vis jumper
\n
• Hi-vis coat
\n
• Hi-vis waterproofs (for wet days)
\n

Boots and gloves are provided by the client.
