Horticulture Assistant
\nLocation: IpswichHours: Monday to Friday, 06:00 – 14:00 (40 hours per week)Salary: £26,436 per annum
\nThe Opportunity
\nI'm recruiting for a Nursery Operative to join a busy horticultural team in Ipswich. This is a hands-on role supporting the care and maintenance of nursery stock, ensuring plants remain healthy, well-presented, and ready for dispatch.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Watering, feeding, and caring for plants to maintain quality standards \n
- Carrying out plant health and quality checks \n
- Potting surplus stock to extend product life and reduce waste \n
- Assisting with plant passport labelling \n
- Keeping glasshouses, polytunnels, and nursery areas clean, tidy, and weed-free \n
- Supporting stock checks and maintaining accurate records \n
- Assisting with deliveries and associated paperwork \n
- Reporting quality, maintenance, or health and safety concerns promptly \n
- Ensuring plants are stored correctly at the end of each shift \n
- Supporting fertiliser application programmes \n
- Assisting with pest and disease management where relevant licences are held \n
- Operating a forklift where licensed and required \n
About You
\n- \n
- A genuine interest in horticulture and plant care \n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality \n
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently and as part of a team \n
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment \n
- Previous horticultural or nursery experience is advantageous \n
- Forklift and/or spraying licences would be beneficial \n
- Due to the location, you will need to drive \n
