Full Time | £100,000 to £120,000 + Hybrid | Permanent | Southend

We are launching a new structural engineering division within a fast growing, design-led property and architecture group.

You will work directly with architects, clients, and contractors on live residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects from day one.

The Opportunity:

• Build a structural engineering function from scratch
\n
• Shape technical standards, workflows, and delivery approach
\n
• Work closely with an established architectural practice with immediate project pipeline
\n
• Progress into a future leadership role (Head of Structural Engineering)
\n
• Influence pricing, service offering, and team growth
\n

What You Will Do:

\n
• Lead structural design from concept through to construction
\n
• Produce calculations, drawings, and specifications
\n
• Work closely with architects on integrated, buildable design solutions
\n
• Manage multiple live projects simultaneously
\n
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, and clients
\n
• Help define systems and quality standards for the new division
\n
• Support early-stage business development as the service grows
\n

Essential Skills:

\n
• A minimum of 4 years of UK-based experience as a Structural Engineer
\n
• Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE or CEng) or near chartership with clear timeline
\n
• UK project experience in residential and commercial sectors
\n
• Strong understanding of UK building regulations and standards
\n
• Confident working independently in a fast-moving environment
\n
• Strong communication skills with architects, contractors, and clients
\n

Desirable:

\n
• Experience in design-led or multidisciplinary practices
\n
• Residential extensions, conversions, or mixed-use project exposure
\n
• Track record of delivering projects end-to-end
\n
• Ambition to move into leadership
\n
