Employee Benefits Administrator

You know how an employee benefits function should be run. You know where implementations stall, why renewals drift and what information providers will ask for before they ask for it. But perhaps you are still working within processes you did not create and do not have the authority to improve.This role gives you that authority. You will become the first dedicated Employee Benefits Administrator within a growing corporate benefits function. You will inherit the existing scheme book, implement new arrangements and manage renewals. But you will also have the freedom to put your own stamp on how the service operates. You will help create the processes, establish service standards, improve provider relationships and shape the client experience as the employee benefits side of the business grows.And if that growth continues as expected, the longer-term opportunity is to head up the administration team you have helped build.PACKAGEThe package includes:\n

The role is based in Preston and is hybrid, although it is more office-led than fully remote. You will normally spend three days each week in the office and two working from home, post-probation. THE JOB This is not a job for someone who only wants to process applications handed down by an adviser. It is for someone who understands employee benefits, can deal confidently with clients and providers, and would relish the opportunity to make a developing function their own. The firm advises a significant number of larger businesses, creating a steady stream of opportunities to introduce new employee benefit arrangements and expand existing schemes. You will become the main administrative contact for a portfolio of corporate clients, working across:\n

• Group personal pensions and auto-enrolment

• Group life assurance
\n
• Group income protection
\n
• Group critical illness
\n
• Private medical insurance
\n
• Cash plans
\n

You will take new schemes from instruction through to implementation, gathering employee and scheme data, liaising with clients’ HR and finance teams, completing provider applications and making sure cases continue moving. You will also manage scheme renewals, issue letters of authority and appointment, send suitability reports and identify missing information or potential compliance issues before they become a problem. The important part is that you will not be expected to sit quietly behind the advisers and wait for instructions. You will be trusted to speak directly with clients, providers and insurers, understand what each party needs and take responsibility for getting things done. Employee benefits is now being developed as a specialist growth area in its own right, which gives the first dedicated recruit considerable scope to influence how it develops.HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED You will already have experience administering a broad range of employee benefit schemes. You should be comfortable managing new-business implementation and renewals, completing provider applications and dealing directly with corporate clients. You will also need:\n

• Knowledge of group pensions, life assurance, income protection, critical illness and private medical insurance

• Experience gathering employee and scheme data
\n
• Confidence speaking with HR and finance teams
\n
• A good understanding of provider processes and requirements

• The ability to spot missing information and keep work progressing

• Enough experience to manage your workload without constant supervision
