Principal Hydrologist Manchester £40,000 - £60,000 A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Principal Hydrologist to join a growing environmental consultancy in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hydrologist looking to take on a technical leadership role within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, working on a wide range of flood risk and water management projects across the UK. You will lead the delivery of hydrology and flood risk projects from inception through to completion, whilst mentoring junior team members and building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. The role offers plenty of variety, technical responsibility and genuine opportunities for career progression. The Principal Hydrologist role will involve: Leading flood risk assessments, hydrological assessments and hydraulic modelling projects Developing, calibrating and reviewing hydraulic models using industry-standard software Preparing technical reports and ensuring high-quality project delivery Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted technical advisor Mentoring and supporting junior hydrologists Liaising with the Environment Agency, Local Authorities, water companies, developers and other stakeholders Supporting business development, proposals and framework opportunities Contributing to projects involving flood resilience, natural flood management and sustainable drainageThe successful Principal Hydrologist will have: A degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geography or a related discipline Significant experience delivering hydrology and hydraulic modelling projects within the UK Strong knowledge of UK flood risk policy and guidance Experience using software such as Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, FEH Web Service, ReFH2 and ArcGIS or QGIS Excellent report writing, communication and project management skills Chartered status, or working towards chartership, would be advantageous Experience mentoring junior staff is desirableBenefits: Competitive salary of £40,000 - £60,000 Hybrid and flexible working Private healthcare Company pension Professional membership fees paid Ongoing training and chartership support Life assurance Electric vehicle scheme Employee referral bonus Long service awards Clear opportunities for career progressionIf you are interested in this or other roles in Hydrology, Flood Risk or Environmental Engineering, please do not hesitate to contact Ruby Evans at Penguin Recruitment This is a permanent role.
