Financial Controller

Butler Rose is recruiting a Financial Controller (12-month maternity cover) for a unique and well-established business based in Somerset.

This is a fully site-based position, offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded finance professional to take on a key leadership role within a fast-paced and diverse organisation.

Reporting to the CFO, you will play a pivotal role in managing the central finance function, ensuring robust financial control and delivering accurate reporting to support strategic decision-making across the business.

• Lead, manage and develop the finance team on a day-to-day basis
\n
• Oversee all payment processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timeliness
\n
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes in line with reporting deadlines
\n
• Review monthly management accounts, including reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
\n
• Oversee payroll processes to ensure compliance and accuracy
\n
• Maintain and enhance financial controls, systems and processes
\n
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities
\n
• Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax and audit requirements
\n
• Business partner with operational teams and senior stakeholders
\n
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support finance projects
\n

• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
\n
• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent preferred)
\n
• Strong leadership and team management experience
\n
• Excellent understanding of financial controls, reporting and accounting processes
\n
• Experience overseeing payments, payroll and month-end processes
\n
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
\n
• Highly organised and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
\n
