Job Description
MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting an Interim Financial Accountant (18 months) to join a well-established business, based North of Colchester. As an Interim Financial Accountant, you will be working with a collaborative finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and supporting a range of transformation initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Financial Accountant who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with process improvement and project work.
\nDuties & Responsibilities:

- Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting requirements. \n
- Prepare and post journals with minimal supervision. \n
- Support the preparation and completion of statutory accounts and group reporting submissions. \n
- Perform reconciliations of debtor, creditor and intercompany balances across multiple entities. \n
- Produce and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies. \n
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisers and other key stakeholders, providing documentation and responding to queries as required. \n
- Ensure accounting policies, controls and governance requirements are applied consistently. \n
- Lead and support finance improvement projects, including systems enhancements and process optimisation initiatives. \n
- Mentor and support junior team members where required, with potential line management responsibilities. \n
Key Skills & Attributes:
\nEssential:
\n- \n
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). \n
- Minimum two years' post-qualification experience. \n
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using financial systems. \n
- Excellent understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting requirements. \n
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. \n
- Effective written and verbal communication skills. \n
- Ability to influence stakeholders and build positive working relationships. \n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. \n
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. \n
Desirable:
\n- \n
- Previous audit and assurance experience. \n
- Experience working within a shared services, multi-entity or group reporting environment. \n
- Exposure to finance systems implementation or process improvement projects. \n
