We are expanding our Finance team in London to continue supporting our growing insurance businesses in the most effective way. The Financial Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong balance sheet control, and compliance within a regulated insurance environment.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

Financial Accounting & Month-End Close

\n
    \n
  • Perform the month-end close process, including preparation, review, and posting of General Ledger (GL) journal entries, including transfer of balance from RiskServe to Workday (General Ledger)
  • \n
  • Ensure all month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and adjustments) are accurate, complete, and posted within close deadlines.
  • \n
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on a timely basis.
  • \n
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items promptly.
  • \n

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

\n
    \n
  • Produce timely and accurate profit and loss (P&L) analysis, explaining variances against prior periods and budgets.
  • \n
  • Analyse movements in selected balance sheet accounts and provide clear commentary.
  • \n
  • Support management reporting with accurate financial data and insights.
  • \n
\n

Compliance & Regulatory Reporting:

\n
    \n
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly regulatory returns, ensuring compliance with insurance and statutory reporting requirements ( FCA RMAR and Baseline resilience survey, ONS Reports, VAT)
  • \n
  • Support adherence to internal accounting policies and external regulatory standards.
  • \n
\n

Audit & Controls:

\n
    \n
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, schedules, and explanations as required.
  • \n
  • Assist in maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring audit points are addressed efficiently.
  • \n
\n

\n

Stakeholder Management & Ad Hoc Work:

\n
    \n
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders, including auditors and advisors.
  • \n
  • Support ad hoc finance projects and initiatives as required across the business.
  • \n
\n

\n

Process Improvement:

\n
    \n
  • Actively contribute to strengthening the Finance function including continually identifying ways to improve processes, controls, reporting, and analysis, particularly within the month-end close and GL processes.
  • \n
\n

\n

Key Skills & Experience:

\n
    \n
  • Qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • \n
  • Insurance experience is required to be considered for this role
  • \n
  • Prior experience in financial accounting
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, journal processing, and month-end close.
  • \n
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis.
  • \n
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • \n
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • \n
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and excel.
  • \n
