\nPosition: Graduate Mechanical Engineer
\nLocation: Newquay, Cornwall
\nSalary: Around £30,000 - Dependent on Experience
\nWe are currently recruiting for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join a small, well-established engineering business based in Newquay. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate to join a close-knit team of approximately 12 employees, supporting the design and manufacturing of bespoke engineering solutions for a range of customers.
\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed engineering drawings, supporting design projects and assisting with the development of mechanical solutions from concept through to manufacture. The role will involve using SolidWorks to create 3D models and technical drawings, alongside supporting wider engineering and business activities.
\nThis position would suit a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or an individual with a relevant engineering qualification looking to develop their career within a hands-on engineering environment.
\nJob Overview
\nCreate detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks
\nProduce technical drawings and design documentation to support manufacturing requirements
\nAssist with the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies
\nInterpret engineering requirements and convert concepts into practical designs
\nUpdate and modify existing drawings and design files where required
\nSupport the engineering team with design improvements and problem-solving activities
\nLiaise with internal teams to ensure designs are suitable for manufacture
\nAssist with material selection and engineering solutions
\nSupport purchasing activities, including sourcing and ordering materials when required
\nAssist with preparing quotations and providing technical information for customer enquiries
\nSupport job management activities, helping to coordinate projects from design through to completion
\nMaintain accurate engineering records and documentation
\nWork effectively both independently and as part of a small engineering team
\nMaintain a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail across all design work
\nRequirements
\nDegree or HNC/HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
\nExperience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software is highly desirable
\nStrong understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation
\nGood knowledge of mechanical design principles
\nAbility to produce accurate technical drawings and models
\nStrong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
\nGood communication skills and the ability to work within a small engineering team
\nWillingness to support wider engineering and business activities when required
\nFull right to work in the UK
\nHours of Work
\nMonday - Friday: 08:00 - 16:30
\nSalary & Benefits
