Fire Alarm Tester (Part-Time)Location: Kingston-upon-Thames and Surrounding AreasSalary: £17,131.30 per annum (22.2 hours per week)Hours: 22.2 hours per weekWorking Pattern: Tuesday, Wednesday and one additional flexible day per weekContract Type: Permanent, Part-TimeMileage Allowance: Paid for travel between sitesThe OpportunityWe are seeking a reliable, organised, and detail-focused Fire Alarm Tester to join a busy Estates and Facilities team responsible for maintaining fire safety compliance across a diverse property portfolio.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in facilities, compliance, maintenance, health & safety, or fire safety who enjoys working independently and following structured procedures.The role involves carrying out routine testing of fire alarm systems and associated fire safety equipment, conducting fire door inspections, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure buildings remain compliant with fire safety requirements.Full training will be provided on specific systems, procedures, and testing requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesFire Alarm TestingCarry out scheduled weekly testing of fire alarm systems.Test and check associated fire safety systems, including: Smoke ventilation systemsFire curtainsRefuge call pointsAutomatic door releases and closersAssist with planned fire drills and alarm activations.Ensure all testing is completed in accordance with established procedures.Fire Door InspectionsConduct routine fire door inspections in line with planned schedules.Identify any faults, damage, or compliance concerns.Ensure fire doors remain effective in providing fire and smoke protection.Fire Safety ComplianceMonitor fire exits and escape routes.Identify blocked exits, combustible storage issues, or other fire safety concerns.Photograph and report defects or hazards using mobile work order systems.Escalate faults and deficiencies promptly for corrective action.Record Keeping & ReportingMaintain accurate records of all testing and inspection activities.Complete fire safety logbooks and electronic records.Ensure documentation is completed accurately and consistently.Provide clear and detailed reporting of faults and observations.Collaboration & SupportLiaise with facilities teams, security personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders.Support fire risk assessments and compliance audits.Assist with fire safety awareness initiatives and training activities when required.Contribute to continuous improvement of fire safety processes and procedures.Essential RequirementsFull UK Driving Licence.Access to your own vehicle (mileage allowance provided for travel between sites).Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.Good organisational and record-keeping skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.Basic IT skills and confidence using smartphones, tablets, and electronic systems.Understanding of Health & Safety principles and safe working practices.Good level of physical fitness, with the ability to spend large periods of the day walking throughout buildings and sites.Desirable Experience & QualificationsExperience carrying out inspections, compliance checks, or routine testing activities.Experience within facilities management, estates, maintenance, housing, education, healthcare, or commercial property environments.Fire Marshal or Fire Warden training.Understanding of fire alarm systems and fire safety equipment.Use of electronic logbook systems or CAFM systems.Basic knowledge of fire safety legislation, British Standards, or industry best practice.Basic knowledge of electrical or building services systems.Personal AttributesThe successful candidate will be:Reliable and dependable.Self-motivated and capable of working independently.Methodical and highly organised.Safety conscious.Detail focused.Professional and approachable.Committed to maintaining high standards.Comfortable communicating with a wide range of people.What's on Offer?Part-time working pattern offering excellent work-life balance.Flexible third working day.Mileage allowance for travel between sites.Full training provided.Stable, long-term employment.Opportunity to develop valuable fire safety and compliance experience.Supportive working environment.Apply NowIf you have a keen eye for detail, enjoy working independently, and are looking for a rewarding role within fire safety and compliance, we would love to hear from you.Blue Arrow is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to helping find great work opportunities for great people.TPBN1_UKTJ
