Estimator
Job Description
If you know steel fabrication inside out and enjoy turning complex drawings into smart, commercially sound bids, this could be your next move.
\nWe have an amazing opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established business, playing a key role in securing projects and supporting continued growth.
\nThis is a hands-on position where you'll take ownership of the estimating process, working closely with projects, contracts and sales to ensure bids are commercially sound, competitive and deliverable.
\nAlthough the business operates at scale, the culture remains grounded and people-focused. It's an inclusive organisation, where relationships matter, experience is respected, and contributions don't go unnoticed.
\nWhat you'll be doing
\nYou'll be trusted to take projects from first glance to final submission, using both technical insight and commercial instinct.
\nYour day-to-day will include:
\n- \n
- Reviewing technical tender drawings and fully understanding scope, risks and requirements. \n
- Extracting, quantifying and pricing materials with accuracy and confidence. \n
- Determining the most efficient fabrication and process routes for each project. \n
- Applying practical experience to estimate labour and process times realistically. \n
- Working closely with the supply chain to confirm robust and competitive cost inputs. \n
- Preparing, issuing and managing quotations and tender documentation. \n
- Liaising with clients to follow up tenders, answer queries and help convert bids into secured work. \n
- Maintaining and improving estimating systems, templates and market price benchmarks. \n
- Coordinating closely with projects, contracts and sales teams to ensure alignment and smooth project delivery. \n
What we're looking for
\nThis role suits someone who combines technical credibility with commercial awareness. Ideally, you'll bring:
\n- \n
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of the steel fabrication sector and its supply chain. \n
- A strong understanding of the industry landscape and how work is typically won. \n
- A proactive, organised approach with excellent attention to detail. \n
- Strong numerical and financial skills, backed by sound commercial judgement. \n
- An analytical mindset, able to interpret information quickly and focus on what really matters. \n
- Confidence using IT systems and CRM platforms. \n
What you'll get
\n- \n
- A varied and rewarding role with genuine autonomy. \n
- The opportunity to work on a wide range of interesting projects. \n
- A business where people are genuinely valued. \n
- The stability of a large, well-established organisation with the feel of a close-knit team. \n
- The chance to improve systems and processes. \n
- Long-term career security within a respected business. \n
