\nOur client is a well-established engineering company specialising in the maintenance, refurbishment and servicing of industrial equipment.\n
\nDue to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Service Technician / Mechanical Fitter to join their engineering team based in Swadlincote.\n
\nThe Role\n
\nAs a Mechanical Service Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing and rebuilding specialist industrial processing machinery to OEM standards.\n
\nKey Responsibilities\n

\n
• Inspect, diagnose and repair industrial processing equipment.
\n
• Dismantle, inspect and rebuild machinery to OEM specifications.
\n
• Replace bearings, shafts, seals and rotating components.
\n
• Carry out precision alignment and mechanical assembly.
\n
• Diagnose mechanical failures, structural fatigue and component wear.
\n
• Produce detailed inspection reports and technical documentation.
\n
• Assist with installation and commissioning of refurbished equipment.
\n
• Maintain high standards of health and safety whilst working in the workshop and on customer sites.
\n

Applicants should have experience working on industrial processing equipment, ideally including:\n
\nVibratory Equipment\n

\n
• Vibratory screens
\n
• Vibratory feeders
\n
• Exciter units
\n
• Eccentric drive systems
\n

Magnetic Separation Equipment\n

\n
• Eddy Current Separators (ECS)
\n
• Permanent and Electromagnetic Overband Magnets
\n
• Magnetic Head Pulleys
\n
• Magnetic Drum Separators
\n
• Suspension Magnets
\n

Mechanical SkillsYou should have experience with:\n
\n

\n
• Bearing replacement
\n
• Mechanical rebuilds
\n
• Shaft alignment
\n
• Setting critical tolerances
\n
• Rotor balancing
\n
• Precision mechanical assembly
\n

Applicants should be confident using precision measuring equipment, including:\n
\n

\n
• Micrometers
\n
• Dial indicators
\n
• Vernier calipers
\n
• Precision measuring equipment
\n

You'll be able to:\n
\n

\n
• Measure wear against OEM tolerances
\n
• Identify bearing failures, fatigue cracking and corrosion
\n
• Diagnose component failures
\n
• Recommend appropriate repair methods
\n

Technical ReportingThe successful candidate will be able to produce accurate:\n
\n

\n
• Inspection reports
\n
• Condition assessments
\n
• Failure analysis reports
\n
• Repair recommendations
\n
• Costed refurbishment reports
\n

Essential Qualifications\n

\n
• Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
\n
• CSCS Card, CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent
\n
• Full UK Driving Licence
\n

Desirable Qualifications\n

\n
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or equivalent
\n
• Experience testing electromagnetic coils
\n
• Gauss testing of magnetic equipment
\n
• Non-Destructive Testing (DPI or similar)
\n
• Forklift, MEWP or Overhead Crane certification
\n

Salary: £30,000£48,000+ depending on experience.\n
