Estimator (Electrical Substations)
Job Description
Job Roles and Responsibilities:
Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, and bid requirements
Perform detailed material takeoffs and quantity calculations
Obtain, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations
Prepare complete and accurate project cost estimates and bid proposals
Participate in estimate reviews with internal stakeholders
Coordinate RFIs and manage bid-related documentation
Prepare qualification documents and bid submission packages
Review purchase orders, contracts, and subcontracts for scope and accuracy
Identify project risks, milestones, liquidated damages, and potential change orders
Conduct scope review meetings with project management teams
Support project handoff by communicating estimate assumptions and project scope
Attend pre-construction meetings and collaborate with construction teams
Maintain estimating documentation and ensure compliance with project delivery processes
Qualifications and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
5+ years of estimating experience in the electrical construction or electric utility industry
Experience preparing cost estimates for utility, substation, or power projects
Strong knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, and estimating practices
Proficiency with Accubid Estimating Software
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Project and/or Primavera preferred
Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to review contracts, specifications, and technical drawings
Ability to travel occasionally to offices, jobsites, and customer locations
