Position Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Garden City, Long Island, NY (On-Site)

Industry: Distribution / Manufacturing

A well-established and growing distribution and manufacturing company in Garden City is seeking a hands-on, detail-driven Senior Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working cross-functionally, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to play a meaningful role in both day-to-day accounting operations and long-term financial initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:

Manage core accounting functions including general ledger oversight, month-end and year-end close, and account reconciliations

Support distribution and manufacturing accounting activities, including inventory and cost-related transactions

Prepare and review financial statements and perform variance analysis to support management decision-making

Handle sales commission accounting, including calculations, reconciliations, and analysis across multiple states (approximately 25-30% of the role)

Collaborate with operations, sales, and leadership teams to ensure financial data aligns with business activity

Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes and analyze actual results versus plan

Support audit preparation and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls

Participate in system enhancements and help streamline accounting processes and procedures

Take ownership of evolving accounting and reporting needs as the business continues to grow

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a distribution or manufacturing environment

Experience with sales commissions accounting or a strong interest in owning this function

Solid understanding of GAAP, reconciliations, and internal controls

Proficient in Excel and accounting systems; ERP experience strongly preferred

Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced, and evolving environment

Strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail

Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset

CPA is a plus but not required
