Job Overview
We are seeking a Systems Control Center Technician / Operator to support operations within a large-scale water and wastewater utility environment. This role involves monitoring, controlling, and optimizing plant and distribution systems through real-time data and process control systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience in process operations, utilities, or industrial plant environments with a strong understanding of pumps, pressure systems, and process control.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor system operations including pumps, pressure levels (air, vacuum, hydraulics), flow rates, and valve positions
Start, stop, and adjust pumps and process equipment based on system demand
Track reservoir levels, elevations, and system performance metrics
Troubleshoot operational issues and perform minor equipment repairs
Generate work orders and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs
Respond to emergency situations and escalate issues as required
Operate and monitor process control systems (SCADA or similar platforms)
Analyze real-time and historical data to support process optimization
Maintain daily logs, reports, and operational records
Coordinate activities with operations and maintenance teams
Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
Provide on-the-job training as needed
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field OR equivalent hands-on experience
Experience in water/wastewater treatment, utilities, or industrial process environments
Strong knowledge of pumps, valves, flow systems, and pressure systems
Experience working with process control systems (SCADA or similar)
Ability to troubleshoot and support plant operations
Work Environment & Requirements
Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Comfortable working in industrial environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required
Exposure to outdoor conditions and varying weather environments
Must be able to follow strict safety and operational protocols
Preferred Skills
Experience in wastewater or water treatment plant operations
Familiarity with control room operations and system monitoring
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to interpret system data and make operational decisions
Additional Requirements
Valid driver's license
Ability to travel between sites if required
