Job Description
Make a meaningful impact this school year by using your skills as a Sign Language Interpreter in a supportive elementary environment. This contract opportunity begins August 3, 2026, and runs through May 28, 2027, providing steady hours Monday through Friday, with a consistent 7:00am–2:30pm schedule. You’ll work 35 hours each week in a role focused on delivering essential communication support for a dedicated student at the elementary level.
Key Qualifications:
- Licensed Sign Language Interpreter with an EIPA score of 3.5 or above
- Candidates with current RID certification are welcome, even if they do not have an EIPA credential
- Previous experience supporting children or students in educational settings is highly valued
- Strong commitment to punctuality, arriving before student arrival daily to ensure readiness
- Ability to provide onsite interpreting services exclusively (remote work is not available for this role)
- Professional, team-oriented, and reliable approach to classroom collaboration
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff throughout the school day
- Support classroom learning by interpreting lessons, discussions, and activities
- Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to adapt materials and support individualized student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions within the school environment
- Ensure the student receives seamless and accessible communication support from arrival to dismissal
