Teacher of Visually Impaired - Apopka, FL

Shape educational experiences for visually impaired students across K-12 settings as an itinerant professional in a dynamic Florida district. As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired with OMS Certification, you’ll work on-site and help students access curriculum and build key life skills through both direct instruction and consultative services.

This contract role covers 35 hours per week during the school year, generally from 8:00am to 3:30pm. Your home base will be the district’s main office, with travel to 2 or 3 of 13 assigned schools each day. The district partners with you to craft a weekly schedule that aligns with your needs. Caseload consists of 15–20 students across elementary, middle, and high school, supporting a wide range of abilities and unique educational plans.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Florida Professional Teaching Certificate for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification
• K-12 experience preferred; strong consideration for candidates with prior school-based work, though not required
• Commitment to working across multiple schools; itinerant role experience a plus
• Flexibility, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction and consultative support to students and staff
• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
• Facilitate orientation and mobility training within school settings
• Support student independence and access to academic content across grades K-12

Additional Details:

• Credentialing includes a two-part onboarding and specific documentation requirements
• Full-time contract, school year dates: August 10, 2026 – May 28, 2027
• Active interviews starting July 21, 2026
