A well-established organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of payroll processing, compliance, and employee support.

Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll for a high-volume employee population
- Review and audit payroll data for accuracy, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposits
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Process garnishments, child support orders, wage assignments, and tax levies
- Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Respond to employee payroll-related questions and provide exceptional customer service
- Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and year-end activities including W-2 preparation
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams regarding employee changes, benefits, and payroll adjustments
- Support continuous process improvements and payroll system enhancements
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll preferred
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in payroll software such as ADP, UKG, Workday, Paychex, Ceridian, or similar systems
- High attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines
