Inpatient Pharmacist in Norristown, PA
Job Description
This role requires a licensed pharmacist to support inpatient hospital pharmacy operations in Norristown, PA, on a contract basis lasting 8 weeks, starting August 3rd. The pharmacist will review medication orders, verify drug appropriateness considering patient history, allergies, and lab data, and dispense medications accordingly. The role includes managing inventory, providing drug information to the healthcare team, overseeing pharmacy students and technicians, and collaborating on patient care and discharge planning.
Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders from physicians and physician extenders
- Assess patient allergies, medical history, potential drug interactions, and lab results before dispensing
- Dispense medications accurately and safely
- Manage pharmacy inventory control
- Provide drug information and support to healthcare professionals
- Supervise pharmacy students and technicians in medication preparation
- Collaborate with the healthcare team for patient care planning and discharge processes
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy required; Doctorate (PharmD) preferred
- Active PA Pharmacist License required
- Minimum of 1 year hospital pharmacy experience or Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) in a clinical setting preferred
- Basic Life Support certification preferred
Schedule:
- AM Shift: 07:00 to 15:30
- Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts (40 hours per week)
