Special Education Teacher - West Chester, Pennsylvania

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teaching credential/certification
• Experience with or strong interest in K-2 student populations
• Knowledge of life skills curriculum and individualized educational plans (IEPs)
• Ability to adapt lessons and communication to meet diverse learner needs
• Strong collaboration skills for working with fellow educators, therapists, and families
• Compassionate, patient, and committed to fostering student growth and independence

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and specialized support for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in K-2
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Collaborate with classroom aides, related service providers, and general education teachers
• Create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
• Regularly communicate with parents/guardians about student progress
• Track data and adjust instruction to promote maximum growth in life skills and academic areas
• Participate in team meetings and professional development as needed
