This contract role focuses on delivering one-on-one instruction to a medically fragile 7-year-old student currently residing in a nursing home in Albany, New York. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring the student’s continued academic growth and social development amid challenging circumstances.
What you’ll bring:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience with individualized instruction, preferably in specialized or homebound settings
- A compassionate, patient approach, particularly with medically fragile children
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with caregivers, healthcare staff, and support services
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet the student’s varying academic and physical needs
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized lesson plans tailored to the student’s learning abilities and health requirements
- Collaborate with nursing home staff and the student’s family to create a supportive and encouraging educational environment
- Monitor and document progress, updating educational goals as needed
- Incorporate engaging teaching strategies to maintain motivation and enthusiasm during each session
- Ensure a safe, nurturing space for learning while respecting medical protocols
- Provide regular feedback and communication regarding academic achievements and areas for further support
