Step into a fulfilling contract position for the upcoming school year as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant middle school setting near La Fayette, GA. Two dedicated educators are needed to support inclusive classrooms, fostering growth for students with a range of learning needs.

Choose from two engaging roles:

  • 6th Grade Math and Science (co-teaching, inclusion setting)
  • 7th/8th Grade ELA and Science (co-teaching, inclusion setting)

Both positions offer a welcoming atmosphere where educators collaborate with general education teachers and staff to provide quality instruction and individualized supports for students. Caseloads average 10 to 12 students, with diverse backgrounds including Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, and EBD. While some learners may have behavior plans, classrooms are structured to ensure a positive, supportive environment. No toileting or diapering responsibilities are involved.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Active GaPSC SPED Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement
  • Previous experience teaching in co-taught or inclusion classrooms a plus
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, and service providers
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • Passion for helping students reach their full potential

Key responsibilities:

  • Co-develop and implement differentiated lesson plans
  • Collaborate on IEPs and provide accommodations
  • Track progress and maintain accurate records
  • Participate in school-wide activities and pre-planning (July 31–August 4)
  • Attend new SPED teacher training (July 29)
  • Engage fully with staff from August 5th through May 21st, 2027
