East Side of Indianapolis, IN | Fully Onsite
$60,000 - $65,000 Base Salary

LHH is seeking a highly analytical Material Planner to support purchasing, inventory planning, and supplier management activities within a dynamic distribution environment.
This is a fully onsite contract to hire position.

Are you a supply chain professional who thrives on balancing inventory, forecasting demand, and ensuring materials arrive when they are needed? LHH is seeking a highly analytical Material Planner to support purchasing, inventory planning, and supplier management activities within a dynamic distribution environment.
This is a fully onsite contract to hire position.
What You'll Do
- Create and manage purchase orders within the ERP system
- Develop demand forecasts and inventory plans based on customer requirements
- Monitor and track inbound purchase orders and supplier commitments
- Maintain accurate inventory levels across multiple warehouse locations
- Manage customer min/max inventory programs
- Coordinate supplier returns and corrective actions
- Escalate recurring supplier performance issues and drive resolution
- Ensure supplier compliance with delivery schedules, shipping documentation, and receiving requirements
- Work cross-functionally to resolve material shortages, backorders, damaged goods, and delivery delays
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and material issues
- Maintain accurate planning data within ERP and MRP systems
- Analyze inventory and purchasing data to identify trends and opportunities
- Manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory
- Develop strong supplier relationships and support ongoing performance improvement initiatives
- Monitor supplier scorecards including on-time delivery, quality, capacity, and responsiveness
- Assist with sourcing and procurement projects as needed
- Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and inventory performance
Required
- 2+ years of experience in material planning, purchasing, procurement, inventory management, demand planning, or supply chain
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree; Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
- Experience planning raw materials, components, or inventory with extended lead times
- Experience within distribution, wholesale, logistics, industrial products, or supply chain organizations
- Understanding of MRP concepts and inventory planning methodologies
- Experience working with domestic and/or international suppliers
- You think critically and proactively solve problems before they affect customers
- You understand the balance between maintaining service levels and avoiding excess inventory
- You are comfortable working with large data sets and translating data into actionable decisions
- You enjoy building relationships with suppliers and internal business partners
- You are adaptable, resourceful, and eager to learn new systems and processes
