Job Description
Step into a transformative role supporting students with diverse learning needs in welcoming school communities near Thornton and Westminster, CO! Full-time, onsite positions are open for Special Education Teachers dedicated to fostering student growth and development for the 2026-2027 school year (July 27, 2026 – May 21, 2027), with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours and single school assignments.
Three distinct specialties are available:
- Learning Specialist: Support elementary students with mild to moderate needs in an inclusive, collaborative setting.
- Affective Needs Specialist: Lead a small team, serving students with complex emotional and behavioral disabilities. Skills in CPI, de-escalation, ABA principles, and autism-focused interventions are valued.
- Structured Learning Services Specialist: Serve a small, self-contained caseload of students experiencing significant cognitive and behavioral challenges. Experience in behavioral strategies, station-based routines, and working with autism and cognitive disabilities is a priority.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education teaching license with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement.
- Direct experience in elementary special education settings.
- Familiarity with CPI, de-escalation techniques, ABA, the Denver model, and individualized behavioral strategies.
- Experience leading paraprofessionals and collaborating with multidisciplinary providers.
- Autism and cognitive disabilities expertise, depending on assignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and accommodations to support student IEP goals.
- Work closely with general educators, service providers (speech/OT/psych), and families.
- Manage classroom behavior and foster a safe, supportive environment.
- Model and guide best practices in behavioral strategies.
