Special Education Teacher - Detroit, Michigan

Step into an impactful opportunity supporting young learners as a Certified Elementary Cognitively Impaired (CI) Teacher. Serve K–2 students in a dynamic, onsite setting and make a meaningful difference for students with diverse needs. This full-time contract role starts August 31, 2026, and continues through June 24, 2027.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current Special Education License with CI or ASD endorsement
• Certification in CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), or willingness to obtain and renew annually
• Experience working with students who have cognitive impairments, particularly at the elementary level
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with families and educational staff

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction, adapting curriculum to meet the needs of K–2 students with cognitive impairments
• Create supportive, engaging learning experiences that promote academic and social growth
• Implement IEPs and monitor progress, making adjustments as needed
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and support staff
• Apply CPI strategies to ensure a positive, safe classroom climate
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to support student success
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines
