Senior Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Responsibilities
Perform all aspects of mechanical engineering design, including HVAC engineering and system design.
Lead conceptual studies, programming requirements, design analyses, calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts.
Meet with clients to develop and validate project scopes of work.
Manage mechanical projects or mechanical portions of multidisciplinary projects to meet budgets, schedules, goals, and objectives.
Coordinate mechanical design activities with architectural, electrical, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
Lead, supervise, train, and mentor junior mechanical engineers, designers, and commissioning staff.
Perform quality control reviews of engineering designs, calculations, and project documents.
Ensure compliance with company quality control procedures and engineering standards.
Prepare mechanical project programming documents, schematic designs, design development documents, and construction documents.
Provide mechanical support during bidding activities, including preparation of addenda, amendments, bid evaluations, and bid tabulations.
Perform construction administration services, including site visits, responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing as-built documentation.
Represent the firm during construction phases and coordinate with contractors and project stakeholders.
Prepare commissioning proposals, scopes, fees, plans, and reports.
Conduct commissioning reviews and project evaluations.
Prepare and witness prefunctional checks (PCs) and functional performance tests (FPTs).
Prepare Operations and Maintenance Support Information (OMSI) manuals.
Support projects across K-12, commercial, municipal, government, office, retail, and data center markets.
Provide technical guidance and ensure client satisfaction throughout project delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Engineering or related discipline.
8+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
Experience with HVAC engineering and design.
Experience in K-12, office, commercial, retail, data center, municipal, and government markets.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia or ability to obtain licensure immediately.
Proficiency with current versions of AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
LEED Accreditation preferred.
Experience with design and construction administration processes.
Ability to work independently with limited direction.
Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and project teams.
