Job Description
Make a difference in the lives of high school students by providing speech and language services in a supportive educational environment. This part-time contract opportunity is perfect for SLPs or SLPAs passionate about fostering communication skills in young adults. You'll work closely with 21 high school students, conducting weekly one-hour sessions, and collaborating with staff to create a positive impact throughout the academic year.
Key Qualifications:
- Current license or certification as an SLP or SLPA in Alabama
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is highly valued
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, teachers, and families
- Commitment to individualized instruction and diverse student needs
- Reliable organizational skills to manage schedules and documentation
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, one-on-one speech and language sessions (1 hour per student, weekly)
- Assess students’ abilities and develop individualized treatment plans
- Track progress, maintaining accurate records for each student
- Provide practical strategies and support for students’ communication needs within the classroom
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to maximize student outcomes
- Participate in team meetings as needed to discuss progress and coordinate care
