Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Missouri City, TX
Job Description
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity serving a diverse student community as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) with a school-based team in the Houston area (southwest side). This full-time position covers the 2026–2027 academic year, beginning August 11, 2026, and concluding May 26, 2027, requiring 37.5 hours per week. Candidates must have a strong background in schools or significant pediatric experience and be available for onsite support throughout the assignment.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Texas COTA licensure required
- Minimum of several years’ experience in a school or pediatric environment (district will not consider any former employees)
- Prior experience conducting evaluations and participating in ARDS meetings
- Familiarity with IEP documentation; experience using SHARES, Onward, or similar school health software preferred
- Must be available full-time only for on-site work
- Fingerprinting required as part of credentialing process; candidates already cleared in the system may be expedited
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with an Occupational Therapist to serve students aged 3–21 across 6–7 schools within a designated zone
- Maintain a balanced caseload (aiming for approximately 30–40 students receiving direct services, and up to 70 including consults)
- Utilize innovative scheduling with a mix of weekly and rotational service delivery
- Accurately document services and support IEP compliance through timely record-keeping and use of assigned digital tools
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, evaluations, and contribute to ARDS processes
