Quality Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician to ensure plastic containers and bottles meet the highest quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. This role is responsible for performing visual inspections, conducting precise measurements, identifying product defects, documenting inspection results, and collaborating with production teams to maintain consistent product quality and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment, is comfortable using precision measuring equipment, and demonstrates exceptional attention to detail.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform visual quality inspections of plastic bottles and containers throughout the production process.
  • Inspect products for cosmetic and functional defects, including:
    • Flash
    • Short shots
    • Warping
    • Cracks
    • Discoloration
    • Contamination
    • Improper sealing
    • Surface imperfections
  • Verify bottle weights meet customer specifications and manufacturing standards.
  • Use precision measuring equipment, including Magna-Mike® thickness gauges or similar instruments, to verify product dimensions and wall thickness.
  • Conduct first article, in-process, and final product inspections.
  • Accurately document inspection results, measurements, and quality findings.
  • Complete all required quality documentation and production records.
  • Identify non-conforming products and promptly notify production or quality leadership.
  • Assist with investigations of quality issues and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure products comply with customer specifications, quality standards, and established procedures.
  • Maintain inspection equipment and ensure measuring devices are properly calibrated.
  • Partner with production personnel to improve product quality and reduce defects.
  • Follow all safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Quality Technician, Quality Inspector, or Quality Control Inspector in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing, injection molding, or blow molding is highly preferred.
  • Experience performing visual quality inspections on manufactured products.
  • Ability to quickly identify cosmetic and functional defects.
  • Experience verifying product weights and dimensional specifications.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including:
    • Magna-Mike® thickness gauges
    • Calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Thickness gauges
    • Digital scales
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, specifications, drawings, and inspection criteria.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Good visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) to detect small defects and irregularities.
  • Ability to perform repetitive inspection tasks while maintaining accuracy.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment around operating production equipment.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of quality inspection methods and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO quality standards is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with statistical sampling techniques and quality documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting production and quality expectations.
