Special Education Teacher - Manteno, IL

This full-time contract position centers on teaching in a cross-categorical classroom serving 4th to 6th graders, where you’ll work closely with a dedicated support team near Manteno, IL. With a small class size of 14 and a range of disabilities represented—including Intellectual Disabilities, Other Health Impairments, Autism, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Traumatic Brain Injury—you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification (appropriate for teaching in Illinois)
• Proven experience instructing students with diverse needs (ID, OHI, AUT, SLD, TBI)
• Ability to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt curriculum accordingly
• Skilled communicator, able to collaborate with paraprofessionals and individual aides
• Commitment to fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver instruction tailored to each student’s strengths and needs across multiple disability categories
• Oversee and work side-by-side with two classroom paraprofessionals and one individual aide in supporting student success
• Track student progress, update IEPs, and participate in meetings with families and support staff
• Foster a structured, nurturing classroom community that encourages all learners to grow and achieve
• Communicate regularly with families and collaborate with colleagues to ensure holistic support for students
