Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education professional supporting students’ growth and development for the 2026-2027 school year. In this full-time position, you’ll have the chance to foster a positive, structured classroom environment specifically designed for students in either an Autism support or transition program. Your caseload will consist of eight non-verbal students, and you will be joined by two to three dedicated paraprofessionals to ensure an optimal staff-to-student ratio.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Active LBS1 endorsement
  • Experience in special education settings, preferably with students who are non-verbal or within Autism Spectrum programs
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, including paraprofessionals and other support staff
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • A commitment to individualized student growth and inclusive learning

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored for each student’s needs
  • Adapt curriculum and assess student progress to meet goals and benchmarks
  • Foster communication and functional skills in non-verbal students using assistive technology and visual supports
  • Supervise, coach, and collaborate with support staff within the classroom
  • Partner with families and multidisciplinary teams to promote students’ transitions and academic success
  • Maintain detailed documentation and participate in ongoing IEP meetings and professional development

This position runs from August 17, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with schedule hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM. More details will be provided during the interview.
