As a valued special education teacher, you will lead either an elementary or middle school classroom with manageable caseloads and meaningful support resources.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (state-issued and up-to-date)
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students in a special education setting
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Comfortable assisting with toileting needs
- Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Adaptable, patient, and committed to fostering student growth
Responsibilities:
- Oversee either an elementary classroom (6 students) or a middle school classroom (11 students), providing tailored instruction and behavioral support
- In the elementary room, work closely with a Teaching Assistant and a Behavior Technician. All students have mild or no behavioral needs; toileting assistance is required but no feeding responsibilities
- In the middle school room, work alongside another teacher, three full-time Teaching Assistants, and a dedicated 1:1 support professional for a student with a feeding tube. Most students require light toileting assistance but have no significant behavioral challenges
- Develop and implement IEPs, adapt lessons, and maintain open communication with staff and families
- Create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that encourages academic and social development
