Special Education Teacher | Cottage Grove, Minnesota

Step into a meaningful contract role supporting students in a specialized setting for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position focuses on serving a classroom of approximately 6-10 students with developmental cognitive disabilities (DCD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), housed in a Setting 3 environment. You’ll be working from August 31, 2026, through June 4, 2027, providing specialized academic and behavioral support to students in one elementary building.

Desired Qualifications:

• Holds a valid teaching license with a required endorsement in ASD or DCD (Tier 3 or Tier 4 only)
• ABS licensure accepted, but preference given to candidates with EBD (Emotional Behavioral Disorders) or ASD experience
• Demonstrated success teaching within a Setting 3 cluster, preferably at the elementary level
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with moderate to severe needs
• Strong skills in collaborative teamwork, communication, and adapting curriculum to individual student goals

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruct and support students with DCD and ASD in a self-contained cluster setting
• Develop and monitor individualized education plans in partnership with families and related service providers
• Foster a structured, supportive environment to promote academic and behavioral growth
• Progress-monitor, document, and report on student achievement
• Collaborate with other staff and participate in professional development focused on best practices for special education
• Serve as a key member of the school’s special education team within a single building
