Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment to support daily landfill operations at an industrial and E&P waste facility. This role involves managing incoming waste, maintaining landfill roads and working areas, processing sludge and liquid waste, and performing routine equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate dozers, loaders, graders, excavators, and other heavy equipment.
• Manage, spread, and place incoming waste throughout the landfill.
• Process sludge and liquid waste by mixing with fly ash for landfill disposal.
• Maintain landfill roads, grades, and working surfaces.
• Assist with scale house duties, truck check-in/out, and ticket processing as needed.
• Conduct equipment inspections and perform basic preventive maintenance.
• Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs.
• Monitor site conditions for safety and compliance.
• Support landfill operations handling approximately 60 truckloads per shift.
• Follow daily assignments provided by the Operations Manager.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• GED or HS diploma
• 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to work outdoors in an industrial environment.
• Basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong safety mindset and ability to work independently
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Landfill, waste management, construction, mining, or oilfield experience.
• Scale house or truck ticketing experience.
• Ability to read grades and slopes.
• Experience with industrial waste, drill cuttings, sludge, or E&P waste operations.
