Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipment of urine specimens in accordance with departmental policies
Collect urine specimens from patients, including observed and supervised collections
Verify patient identity properly before specimen collection
Label specimens accurately and complete necessary documentation for shipment
Provide compassionate customer service and effective communication with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
Understand and respond appropriately to a diverse patient population
Follow Universal Precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA guidelines when handling specimens
Report low shift volume, issues, or procedural deviations to the supervisor
Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure proper inventory of supplies
Assist with order processing and office supply management as needed
Required Skills
Strong customer service skills and a reliable work ethic
Ability to work accurately and efficiently in data entry
Excellent communication skills—clear, concise, and credible
Proficiency with multiple computer programs and email management
Physical stamina for standing long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs
Additional Skills & Requirements
Previous experience in specimen collection or healthcare support preferred
Certification or licensure in phlebotomy or related field is a plus
Able to work varied schedules from 20 to 40 hours per week, with flexibility for schedule changes
Physical capability to perform activities such as walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and reaching
Reliable transportation to varied work sites in MD, VA, and DC regions
