Job Description
Make an impact supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic educational environment near Orlando, FL. An opportunity is open for a skilled teacher to serve an itinerant caseload across two nearby schools within a cluster, working collaboratively with students and staff from elementary to middle school levels. This contract position runs from August 10, 2026, to May 25, 2027, offering full-time hours (35 hours per week) with a manageable caseload and a clear focus on student growth and support.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Educator Certification
- National Certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience with K-8 students preferred
- Ability to adapt instruction for visual impairments and collaborate across educational teams
- District background check, fingerprinting, and completion of required forms (time-sensitive)
- Flexible, organized, and able to manage travel within school clusters
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in elementary and middle school settings
- Provide direct and consultative services tailored to individual student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to modify curriculum and ensure accessibility
- Assess, monitor, and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Support transition planning as students progress through grade levels
- Serve as a resource for staff and families on visual impairment best practices and accommodations
