Special Education Teacher | Dalton, Georgia

Two contract opportunities are available for dedicated professionals eager to work collaboratively in co-taught, inclusive settings. The school serves students entering and continuing through middle-level grades, with caseloads that foster meaningful connections and allow you to see the impact of your expertise each day.

Your assignment would begin with specialized SPED training on July 29, followed by pre-planning sessions, then the first day with students on August 5, 2027. Days run from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm with a schedule that supports work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with general educators in co-taught Math, Science, or ELA classes (based on placement) for 6th, 7th, or 8th grades
• Support caseloads of approximately 10-12 students per grade, adapting as enrollments change
• Implement IEPs and accommodate diverse learning needs, including Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, and EBD
• Engage with positive behavior management plans as needed (no significant behavioral or intensive intervention placements)
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom where every student can thrive
• Communicate regularly with families, related service providers, and school teams

Qualifications:

• Valid and active GaPSC Special Education Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement required
• Experience in middle school SPED settings and co-teaching/inclusion models is highly valued
• Strong collaboration, flexibility, and communication skills
• Commitment to student growth and supporting smooth transitions between grade levels
