Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Tavares, FL

Discover an exciting opportunity to support students across multiple school environments as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) with OMS certification. This full-time, itinerant contract role offers the chance to impact K-12 students’ educational journeys, working both directly and indirectly with a manageable caseload of 15–20 students. Key Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Professional Florida TVI License
• Possess current OMS Certification
• Previous school-based experience is highly valued but not required
• Comfortable providing both consultative and direct services (some consultative activities are monthly)
• Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ready and able to work across up to 13 schools, with 2–3 site visits per day
• Possess strong collaboration skills to work with teachers, staff, and families

Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to visually impaired students from kindergarten through twelfth grade
• Serve as an integral resource for both direct instruction and ongoing consultative support
• Develop and implement individualized educational plans to foster student success
• Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to support classroom integration and accommodations
• Travel between assigned school sites, using the central district office as your homebase
• Maintain accurate documentation and submit timely progress reports

This position will begin in August 2026 and continue through May 2027, with interviews actively taking place on 7/21. The onboarding process is streamlined by the district and includes credentialing and orientation. You will receive guidance throughout, from onboarding forms to timesheet procedures.
