- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, and test analyses while maintaining accurate records of patient test results - Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested consistently with patient specimens and document all related activities- Analyze specimens according to approved testing procedures outlined in department SOPs- Review and release test results in accordance with established guidelines- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety regulations, maintaining compliance at all times- Maintain records of quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and equipment maintenance- Follow policies when test systems deviate from expected performance levels, identifying and correcting problems or notifying supervisors- Document all corrective actions taken to address test system issues- Report STAT or critical results promptly to clients or relevant personnel- Respond to questions from customers or lab personnel when applicable- Keep comprehensive records of all testing performed on-site- Maintain the department's cleanliness and organization- Track reagent/test kit expiration, opening, and receiving dates to ensure proper usage- Participate in training on new procedures and attend departmental meetings- Engage in safety training and become familiar with safety manual contents and safety equipment locations- Support inspection readiness for government or regulatory agency reviews- Perform any other duties as directed by supervisorsRequired Skills
- Solid understanding of basic and complex laboratory testing procedures- Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment- Strong computer skills with experience in multiple laboratory information systems- Knowledge of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) processes- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment- Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and clients- Ability to handle multiple procedures simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectivelyAdditional Skills & Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology is preferred; or a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or an Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology- Certification as an MT or MLT from recognized organizations such as ASCP or AMT, or eligibility for certification- One year of clinical laboratory experience with high complexity testing preferred- Clinical experience in highly complex testing is required for candidates with a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology- U.S.-educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript; foreign-educated candidates need a credential evaluation from IERF- State and national licensure as required- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and interact professionally with other departments- Good customer service skills and the ability to protect patient confidentiality- Flexibility to work a schedule that may include varying shifts and participate in departmental training and safety sessionsElevate your career by applying for this challenging and rewarding Medical Lab Technologist role, where your expertise ensures accurate testing and contributes directly to patient health outcomes.
