Responsibilities

Collect high-quality blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures and safety protocols.

Prepare and label specimens accurately, verifying patient demographic information and obtaining patient signatures post-venipuncture to ensure specimen identification integrity.

Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures clearly and creating a trustworthy environment, fostering confidence and comfort during specimen collection.

Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient interactions and specimen details in compliance with organizational policies.

Perform specimen processing and processing duties in adherence to clinical standards, ensuring timely and accurate test results.

Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment, supporting a positive public image of the organization.

Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating organizational skills and flexibility to meet staffing needs across multiple locations, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Adhere to all safety policies, dress codes, and confidentiality requirements to uphold the integrity and security of patient information.

Required Skills

Proven ability to perform error-free, quality blood draws with excellent technique, including pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy skills.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a high-volume setting.

Effective communication skills for interacting openly and professionally with patients, peers, and healthcare providers.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail.

Keyboard and data entry proficiency for accurate documentation and specimen tracking.

Additional Skills & Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.

Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

1-3 years of direct phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections, with 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime, to support multiple locations.

Experience in a clinical or cancer center setting highly desirable, with a focus on customer service and patient care in a busy environment.
