Position Summary:

Seeking a Fire Alarm Project Designer to design, engineer, and document medium to large-scale fire alarm solutions with moderate to high complexity. This individual will support project execution, pre-sales engineering efforts, and collaborate closely with project management, sales, and drafting teams to ensure projects are delivered accurately, on time, and within budget.

Job Description:

  • Design, engineer, and document enterprise-level fire alarm systems.
  • Support pre-sales activities by identifying, scoping, and estimating cost-effective solutions.
  • Work closely with Project Management to ensure engineering deliverables align with project scope.
  • Guide and mentor drafters to ensure accuracy and quality of engineering drawings.
  • Monitor engineering resources to maintain project budgets and schedules.
  • Partner with Sales and Project Management to identify scope changes and support customer clarification efforts.
  • Review and interpret construction documents, including architectural and electrical drawings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver customer-focused fire alarm solutions.

Required Skillset and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience designing enterprise-level fire alarm systems.
  • AutoCAD or FireCAD experience.
  • NICET Level III or IV certification.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, architectural plans, and electrical layouts.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and components.
  • Experience with AutoDesk Design Review and Bluebeam.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong customer service and client-facing skills.

Preferred Skillset and Experience:

  • Experience supporting pre-sales engineering and estimating efforts.
  • Experience mentoring or leading drafting teams.
  • Prior experience working with large, complex fire alarm projects.
  • Additional life safety, fire protection, or systems integration certifications.

Location: Sully, VA (occasional travel in Northern VA).

Compensation: $41-$55/ hour
