Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity shaping young minds as a full-time middle school science educator for the upcoming academic year. This contract position runs from August 24, 2026, through June 10, 2027, and offers a steady schedule of 35 hours per week, onsite, supporting general education students. The caseload consists solely of general education learners, with special education students receiving dedicated support from certified SPED teachers.
Utilize your understanding of science and classroom best practices to foster academic excellence. The position requires someone who is confident in both instructional delivery and classroom management, prepared to create engaging lesson plans aligned with current state and district standards. Your ability to assess and differentiate instruction will be vital in driving student success.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required (needed for emergency teaching permit)
- Active teaching certification/licensure matching caseload
- Proven school-based experience, preferably in urban environments
- Mastery of science content, modern instructional strategies, and relevant resources
- Effective classroom and behavioral management skills are a must
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Capability to work onsite between 8:30AM and 4PM, with no schedule modifications
- Must complete all required PA clearances
- Comfortable adapting to district/urban school settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement science lesson plans tailored to diverse learners
- Utilize formative assessments to guide and adapt instruction
- Maintain a structured, positive learning environment
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, including SPED teachers as needed
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress
